Floating architecture seems to be growing in demand. This trend is currently gaining popularity not only in European countries with years of experience in floating constructions, such as the Netherlands, but as well in the fast developing Asian countries.
China has set the pace of a large-scale floating city concept, that is to include submarines, underwater roads, parking and all auxiliary facilities that a water metropolis could need. There is even a floating hotel included in this project concept.
There has been significant development in the floating architecture. Houses on the canals are no longer the main effort in that area. New projects in that field include schools, restaurants, and different types of social structures.
We applaud such development for it is crucial to learn to live with nature and not fight it. The future of a more sustainable and environmentally-conscious architecture is one step closer to us.
